The League of Women Voters of Polk County is involved in the following studies:
Charter School:
LWV Statewide Study of Charter Schools
The Education Team of the Alachua County League is heading a statewide study on School Choice with a focus on charter schools. Twenty-one local leagues, which represent 27 Florida counties, are participating in the study. The study will generate consensus statements about charter school missions, management and accountability, conflict of interest, funding and facilities.

Privatization:
LWV Polk participated in the LWVUS study of privatization of governmental programs. Ruby Stinson served as Chair of this committee. Immigration:
The Immigration Study was conducted nationwide by the League of Women Voters of the United States. The resulting position statements will be used toward affecting our federal government policies and immigration. Our local committee supplemented this study with local research. |
Growth Management:
LWV Polk has established a Growth Management Committee to study the issues of land use planning and development in Polk County. Click here for more info. |
Civics Education:
The purpose of this committee is to educate the citizens on civics and to increase informed voter participation. |
